Vintage Shopping in Amsterdam

From flea markets to high end second hand boutiques, Amsterdam has something for everyone.

I really underestimated Amsterdam’s fashion scene. But walking around the city felt like I was watching an endless fashion show of clean lines and effortless style.

So it’s not surprising that the city houses some of the best vintage and second stores I ever seen. I was only in the city for 36 hours but I was determined to get to as many as time (and my feet) would allow.

With so many dotted around different districts of the city, you don’t need to spend all your time in one area to experience them. Just take a walk around the city and you will come across plenty of them. And once you’re done, rest your feet at a local bar. I recommend sitting outside if the weather permits, the city is like a moving picture frame.

Shops
Episode
Berenstraat 1 1016 GG

A well organised store, however, just be aware that there is a lot! If you’ve got the time or you were looking for something very particular, it would be a great place to go to. However, as someone just searching it can be a bit of an unknown for where to start. It is a card only store, just something to keep in mind if card isn’t an option for you.

Indianaweg
Kinkerstraat 104 1053 EC

If vintage is your style, this is where you need to head to. It’s cosy and full of really beautiful items. They have some really eclectic jewellery like clip on eyes and pearl necklaces, as well as a few home bits so definitely worth a visit.

Kilo Store
Albert Cuypstraat 100 1072 CX

An amazing store filled with some really cool pieces. Like Episode it was really well laid out if you were looking for something specific. However, if you are on a budget, it can be hard to figure out the prices. Each item has a colour tag but then does require weighing to find out the price.

Ragtime Vintage
Elandsgracht 107 1016 TT

What felt like more like Aladdin’s Cave than it did a vintage boutique, if you like something with a bit of flare, this is not to be missed. It had theatrics, personality and a bit of a soul. You couldn’t help but smile walking through, ducking and diving out the way of overhanging fabric.

Reshare Store
Bilderdijkstraat 183 1053 KR

Everyday pieces where adjustments and repairs are also available. It’s a concept I just love. If there’s something you love but it doesn’t quite fit, it doesn’t need to be a no. Not just that but if you have something that isn’t in one piece, but you’re not ready to let go of, take a little visit to see what they can do.

Vintage of Amsterdam
Elandsgracht 41 1016 TN

One of the quieter shops, not just with people but quieter on the mind. Just two walls filled with second hand vintage items, it felt a lot easier to peruse the rails. If a white blouse is on your list, get yourself down there! They have plenty to choose from with a variety of different styles.

Zipper
Huidenstraat 7 1016 ER

More vintage then thrift, it felt like where all the cool people shopped for their wardrobe. It was very busy and not the biggest of places, however, it’s not one to be missed. The price range is really reasonable, just note that every now and again you will come across something a little more than expected.

High End
Enso Vintage
Elandsgracht 12H 1016 TV

One of the most beautiful boutiques I went to. The minimalistic decor matched the chic style of fabrics and styles. It would be the perfect place to visit if you are looking to build a timeless wardrobe with excellent taste. It’s definitely on the high price range, however, the quality of items matches the price tag.

Reverse Studio
Eerste Boomdwarsstraat 2 1015 NC

My favourite boutique of the whole visit and one that I may have missed if I hadn’t of been searching for life-changing pastries (Saint-Jean if you’re wondering). It was filled with perfectly curated designer pieces such as Acne Studios, Isabel Marant, Jacquemus, ROTATE and many more. I picked up a pair of Ganni sandals that I just couldn’t leave behind.
