New Year, Better You

As we reflect on the last 12 months, don’t look back on all of the things you didn’t accomplish or how horrible this year has been. Use it to look at how far you have come and what you can take from it to continue to grow and better your life. Don’t compare it to the year before, or the year before that or the year before that.

I often thought of positives being something dramatic or something life changing. What working on gratitude has taught me is that when I’m grateful for the smallest of things, the happier I go through life. It doesn’t mean I don’t live in reality, it just means that while I may choose to see life through rose tinted glasses, they’ve got the correct prescription.

Struggling to think of the positives? Acknowledge the negatives and think about how you over came them. Take those things into the new year and continue working on them. If you had to describe what the last year has given you from a positive POV in just a few words, what would you say?

If the last year has taught me anything, it’s in a second it can change. And while we may not control some aspects of life, we can choose the person we want to be. 10 years ago, I thought if I was 30 living in a one bed flat, the hustle wasn’t worth it. I’ve come to realise that I am the one bedroom flat and the hustle is never worth a 5 bedroom house full of emptiness.

The only hustle you should be working on is you. Invest in yourself as much as you do your shares. Whether it be time, patience or monetary, it all makes a difference. Don’t try changing the person you are, just try being better.
