Lainston House

I recently had the privilege to stay at the stunning Lainston House. Nestled in over 60 acres of the Hampshire countryside, it was the perfect place to take some time to rest and recuperate after what has been another crazy year.  However, whether you’re looking for a relaxing getaway or somewhere just to feed your belly and rest your head, Lainston House has it all.

Arriving at Lainston is breathtaking. Its quintessentially British exterior continues inside with a modern twist. Everyone working there was so kind that it felt like a home away from home. I can see why people choose it for their wedding day!

Kitchen Garden

We didn’t have much time there but we made it just in time to visit my favourite part of the grounds… The Kitchen Garden. As it was winter, there wasn’t too much to see growth wise but it was still beautifully kept. Surrounded by the brick wall, it’s an incredibly calm environment and a great place to take a book and relax.

While it was still light enough, we decided to take a leisurely stroll around the grounds just in time for the sunset. With not much around, the views were breathtaking. A perfect moment to just stop and take it all in.

The Cedar Bar

After our walk around the grounds, we headed into the bar for a quick drink before getting ready for dinner. If traditional library style bar’s are your thing, you’re going to love the Cedar Bar. As it was dark and cold outside, we snuggled into a corner against the bookshelves.

If you’re visiting on a warmer day, step out onto the Terrace and make the most of the view down The Avenue of lime trees.

The Avenue

As there was a wedding taking place in a different area of the House, we actually had the restaurant to ourselves. The intimate and elegant setting is reflected in the food. We went with the six course tasting menu and I highly recommend the vegetarian option. There’s something about seeing where the food your eating has been grown that makes the the experience that little bit more special.

Season’s Cookery School

While we didn’t go into the School on this occasion, I have had the privilege to see inside on a previous visit. Located in a beautifully converted well house, Season’s offers private dining experiences as well as classes where you can learn from the best.
