A little life

author: Hanya Yanagihara
genre: fiction
rating: 5/5

a beautifully devastating story of a mans journey through life

Firstly, I just want to put warning. A Little Life covers some heavy topics such as abuse, self harm and eating disorders. Please just be aware that this may be triggering for some and to take caution prior to reading it.

A Little Life is hard to explain without giving it all away, but what I will say is that it is devastating yet beautiful. While it may jump years at a time, Hanya makes you feel like you are part of their journey through life at every stage. So much so that you feel like you almost know them personally, like you were reading the pages of a private journal. It felt intrusive yet captivating. I can imagine that if you were listening as an audiobook, you could close your eyes and feel like you were a fly on the all, watching it all unfold with your very eyes. If you’re emotionally ready, do it. It will touch your soul like nothing before.
