Blue Monday

Tomorrow is Blue Monday and while I think it’s brilliant that we talk about mental health, please make sure that you look after yours by not letting a label/ name cloud your vision and dictate how your day goes.

You will most likely wake up tomorrow, and like a lot of us, the first thing we will do is check our phones (a habit I am trying to break), and as you scroll away, a lot of the same words will keep popping up. Words such as wellbeing, mental health, depression, anxiety. And while they are incredibly important to talk about, they are all very heavy words. So if you’re someone easily influenced, seeing something over and over again can influence your state of mind, even.

So here’s a couple of things that may help –

  • Don’t look at your phone as soon as you wake up (easier said than done but even if you do it just for tomorrow)
  • Put something that makes you smile beside your bed tonight so it’s the first thing you get a piece of joy the minute
    • It could be a photo, or a piece of memorabilia
  • Listen to positive affirmations – try just for 5 minutes
  • Get ready for your day to your favourite playlist
  • Go for a walk in nature without headphones
  • Put nutritious food into your body
  • Drink water like your life depends on it
  • Have that one hour pamper bath you keep saying your going to do
